Do Fabric Shrinkage Testing With whirlpool Tester

Shrinkage rate refers to the percentage that fabrics’ size presents shrink when washed or soaked, which is also an indicator of measuring the degree of fabric shrinkage. The level of fabric shrinkage rate is one of the criteria to measure product quality.

Fabric shrinkage can cause problems in two main areas: garment manufacturing and subsequent laundering by the ultimate customer. in order to make sure the product quality , the shrinkage test is necessary for each textile manufacturer.

The general procedures for preparing and marking out of samples are given in the British Standard. For critical work the recommended sample size is 500mm X 500mm and for routine work a minimum sample size of 300mm X 300mm is considered as sufficient. The samples are marked with three sets of marks in each direction, a minimum of 350mm apart and at least 50mm from all edges as shown in Figure. In the case of the smaller sample the marks are made 250 mm apart and at a distance of 25 mm from the edge.

Working Procedure of Shrinkage tester
The sample which is done shrinkage test, spread on table. Then a glass template put on sample fabric which is square size. There are six mark on glass template and distance between two mark is 35 cm. Marking the sample fabric by unchangeable marker. Then sample is sewn by hand sewing machine. Sample is ready for washing. Simple wash the fabric at 60˚c temp for 90 min. after washing the fabric is taken out. Dry the sample as per any of the method. It can either be Line Dry or Flat Dry or Tumble Dry. To find the dimensional change read the Shrinkage/Stretch on 3 points on the Wrap side and 3 points on Weft Side. Get the mean value of wrap-wise and weft wise readings to get the Accurate Shrinkage or Stretch.

Determination of air permeability of a fabric-air permeability tester

Fabric air permeability is a measure to what extent it gives air passing through the fabric. Air permeability, a given area in the vertical direction of the air flow rate, a given time period, is measured by the fabric test area inside the pressure difference of the fabric. Basically, it depends on weight, thickness and porosity of fabric. The porosity of fabric is the demonstration of the air gap as a percentage within fabric. It has been important for especially the tent fabric, parachute fabric, raincoat fabric and garment, the fabric used in air bags, industrial filters and sail cloth. Moreover, when thermal properties of clothing and body interaction are taken into consideration, there has been the effect of air permeability. there is an instrument which is designed to test the air permeability of fabric on the market .it is air permeability tester . Air permeability is an important feature of fabrics (Sundaramoorthy et al., 2011) and is one of the main factors affecting the t...

How To Process The Elmendorf Tear Strength Test

The Elmendorf tear tester has been developed specially for the paper industry and is outstanding for simplicity of operation and high measurement accuracy. The exchangeable pendulum is equipped with a pneumatic sample clamp. The initiation and return of the pendulum, as well as sample cutting is completely automatic. The device is operated via an integrated touch screen, where the test method can be selected, specific settings can be adjusted, and, after the measurement, results and statistics can be  displayed. Each pendulum is supplied with the appropriate control weight so that, with the help of the service program, it can easily be checked for functionality and balance. The Elmendorf tear test Procedure:     Cotton fabric was taken.     Warp and weft direction of the fabric was identified.     Two strips were cut from the fabric in both directions having dimensions of 100 x 63.5 mm.     The sample was then fixed in the jaws of the ...

3 main functional values of the Burning Manikin System

3 main functional values of the Burning Manikin System 1) Research on the heat transfer mechanism of individual soldier's flame retardant equipment By simulating the battlefield fire conditions of different intensities, the changes of human skin surface heat flow and skin temperature by burning dummies, a good human body-clothing-fire environment conditions are created, and the individual soldiers are flame retardant The study of equipment heat transfer mechanism provides an important research method. 2) Research and screening of flame retardant fabrics for individual soldier equipment Quantitatively test the flame retardant properties of different individual soldier equipment fabrics through the burning dummy system, guide the research on flame retardant fabrics, and screen out flame retardant fabrics with excellent performance. 3) Structure and style design of individual soldier's flame retardant protective equipment The structure and style of individual soldier's flame r...
