Scratch Testing With Multi-Finger Scratch / Mar Tester

Multi-Finger Scratch / Mar Tester is used to measure the relative resistance or susceptibility of a material surface to scratching, marring, gouging, scraping, engraving and other similar physical damage not classified as ordinary wear. Based on the apparatus described in popular automotive specifications, the instrument is commonly referred to as a five-finger (five-arm) scratch & mar tester and most often used to evaluate plastics.

This Multi-Finger Scratch / Mar Test instrument is used to evaluate the scratch and mar resistance of resilient materials. A variable speed, pneumatically driven sledge is moved below five independent, weighted scratch "fingers" that are equipped with interchangeable scratch tips. Includes: spline shaft 'finger' assembly (5); scratch tip with 1.0mm diameter hemisphere (set of 5); mar tip with 7.0mm diameter hemisphere (set of 5); weight set (consisting of 2N; 3N; 4.5N; 5N; 6N; 7N; 10N; 15N; and 20N); and specimen clamp.

Though robust in design, this instrument is precision-machined. Never drop it or knock it over Always clean the instrument after use.
Clean the instrument using a soft dry cloth. Never clean the instrument by any mechanical means such as a wire brush or abrasive paper. This may cause, just like the use of aggressive cleaning agents, permanent damage.
Do not use compressed air to clean the instrument.
Always keep the instrument in its case when not in use.
We recommend annual calibration

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
Not suitable to be put in the sun or in the high light
Avoid using it in over-high or over-low temperature environment
Avoid humidity
Always make sure the instrument is connected to an earthed electric socket.
Always make sure the instrument’s power is turned off while adjusting any electric component
A knife is a sharp object. Be careful when using it.

How To Process The Elmendorf Tear Strength Test

The Elmendorf tear tester has been developed specially for the paper industry and is outstanding for simplicity of operation and high measurement accuracy. The exchangeable pendulum is equipped with a pneumatic sample clamp. The initiation and return of the pendulum, as well as sample cutting is completely automatic. The device is operated via an integrated touch screen, where the test method can be selected, specific settings can be adjusted, and, after the measurement, results and statistics can be  displayed. Each pendulum is supplied with the appropriate control weight so that, with the help of the service program, it can easily be checked for functionality and balance. The Elmendorf tear test Procedure:     Cotton fabric was taken.     Warp and weft direction of the fabric was identified.     Two strips were cut from the fabric in both directions having dimensions of 100 x 63.5 mm.     The sample was then fixed in the jaws of the ...

Determination of air permeability of a fabric-air permeability tester

Fabric air permeability is a measure to what extent it gives air passing through the fabric. Air permeability, a given area in the vertical direction of the air flow rate, a given time period, is measured by the fabric test area inside the pressure difference of the fabric. Basically, it depends on weight, thickness and porosity of fabric. The porosity of fabric is the demonstration of the air gap as a percentage within fabric. It has been important for especially the tent fabric, parachute fabric, raincoat fabric and garment, the fabric used in air bags, industrial filters and sail cloth. Moreover, when thermal properties of clothing and body interaction are taken into consideration, there has been the effect of air permeability. there is an instrument which is designed to test the air permeability of fabric on the market .it is air permeability tester . Air permeability is an important feature of fabrics (Sundaramoorthy et al., 2011) and is one of the main factors affecting the t...

Comparative analysis of water-cooled and air-cooled xenon lamp aging tester

Xenon lamp aging test chamber is the core component of using the box full sunlight spectrum xenon lamp tube simulation, under different environmental conditions to simulate the material aging law, through the experimental results to evaluate weather resistance of materials and products. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of the advantages and characteristics of the water-cooled and air-cooled xenon lamp aging testing machine. Air-cooled xenon lamp aging test machine : A circular wind is used to cool the heat-trapping xenon lamp tube. Air-cooled xenon lamp tubes used in air-cooled xenon lamp aging test box, generally a typhoon cold xenon lamp aging test chamber is equipped with three air-cooled xenon lamp tubes, and table 1 air-cooled xenon lamp weather-resistant chamber equipped with xenon lamp tubes. The power of the air-cooled xenon lamp tube is generally 1.8kw, and the length of the lamp tube is 340mm compared with that of the water-cooled xenon lamp. The diameter of...
